My Style Story
I’m Deanne I just turned 50! and I welcome midlife!
my journey with fashion began in my 20s. Before having children, I worked as a model for numerous fashion parades, photo shoots, magazine covers, billboards, and TV commercials. From there I completed Certificate Three In makeup artistry and beauty.
I transitioned into teaching modelling at several Melbourne agencies, where I also choreographed and coordinated many of fashion events and parades — including Miss World, Miss Universe, and Melbourne Fashion Week. I ran major events at Crown Casino, The Hyatt, and the Melbourne Exhibition Centre., including a Bridal Designer Dinner show at Leona by the Yarra.
As my career evolved, I launched a business “Girls Keeping Up Appearances”, where I taught grooming and deportment in Catholic and Grammar schools to Year Nine students. My classes covered skincare, makeup, wardrobe styling, and job etiquette. Over the years, I have helped countless women refresh their wardrobes and discover confidence through personal style and makeovers.
I then run in-store bridal shows at Melbourne boutiques under the name “Runway Ready”. I worked with a team of four models, presenting 20 gowns at a time and collaborating with many designers and couturiers. Then evolving to coordinating fashion shoots print and social media.
This experience sparked my love for wedding gown design, leading me to launch “Lookbook Bride” — my custom bridal gown business, which I have now been running for 14 years.
In my late 40’s I started creating fashion content for a beautiful boutique in Red Hill, Amelie and Franks showcasing outfits on the body and inspiring other women. That experience led to women reaching out to ask how they could regain their confidence and feel stylish again. The beauty is in the empowerment of making other women feel great about themselves especially in our midlife years.
This inspired me to create “The Styling Story” — workshops designed to give women practical tools, techniques, and confidence to feel beautiful, stylish, and brave in their mid-years, and affordable hair and makeup makeovers for special events.
Fashion has always been my passion, and now I’m dedicated to empowering women to embrace their unique silhouette, feel good in their own skin, and rediscover the joy of dressing, these workshops will help you discover your personal self. And to feel confident in your style and how to be creative with clothing.
I’ve always evolved, so if I can make you feel confident, I would love to help. xx Deanne
